The ground-breaking musical Hamilton has finally arrived in the West End, two weeks later than expected. Previews of the “hip-hop masterpiece” at the newly refurbished Victoria Palace Theatre opened on Wednesday night. Originally due to open on 21 November, the performances had to be delayed as the expansion and restoration of the listed theatre fell behind schedule. “Hip-hop masterpiece” Inspired by the 2004 biography of Alexander Hamilton, the show made its off-Broadway debut in 2015, where it sold out. It moved to Broadway, winning further rave reviews and has already garnered 11 Tony awards, one Grammy award for the album and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
