Jane Fonda raises £1 million at charity birthday bash

Jane Fonda celebrated her 80th birthday by raising almost £1 million for charity.

The Barbarella icon doesn't turn 80 until 21 December (17), but on Saturday (09Dec17) bosses at Jane's foundation Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential feted the actress at the Eight Decades of Jane gala in Atlanta, Georgia with her famous friends including Rosanna Arquette, Catherine Keener, James Taylor, Carole King, and ex-husband Ted Turner.
The 79-year-old founded the organisation in 1995 to help provide sexual health education and prevent teen pregnancy, according to People magazine.
"(I'm) very proud of what we have accomplished over the years," she tells the publication.
"It is a very challenging time for (GCAPP because government funding for teen pregnancy prevention has been cut)," she adds. "In spite of what's happening, we will make changes. It's going to be a challenge. But we have to remain robust."
During the event, Fonda watched a video that included messages from fellow celebrities including Dolly Parton, Kerry Washington, Oprah Winfrey and rapper Ludacris. Taylor and King also performed at the event.
By the end of the evening, the celebrities helped to raise £971,300 for the organisation.
